This lovely half leather book contains two volumes bound as one in a contemporary half Morocco binding over pebbled cloth. There are five raised bands to the spine and marbling to the text block edges. The Literary Character by I.Disraeli was published in 1828 by Henry Colburn. So the book is from the end of the Georgian era.
It's in good plus condition with some wear and chipping to the surface of the leather. The leather at the bottom corners has worn through to show the board peeking through beneath. The boards show minor marks and discolouration near the tops of the boards. The top edge of the text block is dulled. There is a little loss to the leather at the head of the spine.
Inside, the endpapers are beautifully marbled and there is a name plate stuck to the front pastedown - the book was from the Library of the Earl of Beaconsfield. The pages are clean and bright with sporadic foxing. There is a little damage to the half title page of volume one.

The books will arrive securely wrapped in bubble wrap, patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
