This fascinating antiquarian book contains Reports of Cases of Equity Argued and Decreed in the Courts of Chancery and Exchequer, chiefly in the Reign of King George I. It is the second edition, to which are added some select cases in the Court of Exchequer in Ireland. It was printed in London in 1742 - to put this in perspective, it's 33 years before Jane Austen was even born and 34 years before America gained independence.
The book has been rebacked and recornered with new leather. The spine features 6 gilt ruled raised bands and a red leather title label. Gilt tooling to compartments and date to bottom of the spine. Leather is original to the boards.
It's in good condition but there is peeling, splitting and loss to the original leather. There is bumping and wear to the board edges and minor chipping to the leather spine.
Inside, there are modern brown endpapers and someone has penned the name Gilbert to the title page (the name of the late, learned judge. The pages show age toning throughout with sporadic foxing. There is rippling to the page edges. There are a few penned notes in the margins but not many. A previous reader has dog eared some of the top corners which has left creasing behind. There is cracking to the gutter between the title page and the Preface page - all pages remain tight to the binding. Collated and Complete.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
