This beautiful bundle of three pocket editions of Flower Fairies books by Cicely Mary Barker include Fairies of the Trees, Flower Fairies of the Wayside and A Flower Fairy Alphabet. They were published by Blackie and Son. The books are undated but Flower Fairies of the Wayside was only published in 1948 and it is advertised on the dust jackets of the other two books. Based also on the price of 3/-, I've managed to narrow down the date to the 1950's.
The dust jackets are showing heavy signs of wear and tear and all three have been repaired with plastic tape. There is wear and tear to the edges and marking to the paper. The Flower Fairies of the Trees has loss to the spine ends and corners and The Flower Fairy Alphabet has less significant loss to the spine ends. Underneath the DJs, the corners of the books show wear and light crushing, as do the spine ends. The boards are clean and bright. The spine of Fairies of the Trees has tape over the bottom with minor loss to the spine ends.
Inside, one volume has a penned inscription to the front free endpaper. The pages show light age toning and occasional foxing (most prominent to the page edges).
The books feature beautiful colour illustrations by the author. Dimensions of each volume approximately 14.1cm x 11.1cm x 1cm.
The books will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
