This beautiful, antique edition of the The Poetical Works of Longfellow was published by Nimmo, Hay and Mitchell. The book itself is undated but there is a written inscription inside dated 1910.
The book is quarter bound in cream vellum with delicate floral decoration in gilt to the spine - it features an unusual and striking pattern I haven't seen before. The boards are bound in blue cloth and the top edge is gilt.
It's in very good condition, with just some light marks and discolouration to the cloth boards. The vellum shows minor soiling and discolouration but is remarkably bright for it's age.
Inside, the endpapers are tanned and there is a written inscription on the front pastedown, alongside a name written in pencil on the front free endpaper. The rest of the pages show light age toning.
Dimensions approximately 19.3cm x 13cm x 3.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
