This lovely first edition of The Springtide of Life features the poems of childhood by Algernon Charles Swinburne. It was published in 1918 by William Heinemann and features stunning colour plates by Arthur Rackham.
The book is bound in green cloth with gold gilt lettering and detail to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition for it's age, with just some light wear and crushing to the corners. The book shows a slight forward lean and there is minor marking to the boards. There is some very slight air bubbling to the cloth covering the boards. The spine ends are crushed which has caused some minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, the endpapers are tanned and there is a written inscription to the front free endpaper. The pages show age toning and sporadic foxing/marking but are in good, antique condition. There are stunning colour plates by Arthur Rackham.
Dimensions approximately 25.5cm x 19cm x 2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
