This beautiful full leather book features The Poetical Works of Sir Walter Scott and was published by Frederick Warne. The book itself is undated but I'd estimate it to be mid to late Victorian (circa 1870-1890).
The book is bound in full burgundy Morocco with gilt text block edges and gold tooled inner dentelles. The spine features four raised bands. It's in very good condition for it's age, with only light wear and chipping to the corners. The boards have some minor marks and discolouration, and the spine is very faintly darkened with a few tiny chips to the leather. There is soiling and scuffing to the gilt text block edges.
Inside, the endpapers are beautifully marbled and there is a bookseller's sticker to the front pastedown. The pages show age toning and scattered foxing throughout. There is a written name on the reverse of the FFEP.
There are a handful of stunning black and white illustration plates which add to the charm of this leather book.
Dimensions approximately 18.4cm x 13.1cm x 3.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
