This lovely antique edition of Poems of Robert Burns was published by J M Dent and Sons for Everyman Library in 1919. The book features a custom full Morocco binding with delicate blind stamped decoration in gilt and purple to the boards and spine. Top edge gilt. The binding is signed Marian Lane (1874-1963) who was an accomplished bookbinder and illuminator; she studied her craft at Sangorski & Sutcliffe.
The book is in good condition with the most noticeable flaw being the sunning and discolouration to the spine. There is wear to the spine ends, where crushing has caused both splitting and minor loss to the leather. There are some small chips to the leather covering the boards.
Inside, the endpapers are beautifully marbled and the pages only show light age toning.
The title page is particularly striking and features beautiful art nouveau decoration.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
