This stunning antique edition of The Longfellow Birthday Book was published by Ernest Nister. The book itself is undated I'd estimate it to be early 20th Century (there is a written inscription dated 1916).
The book is bound in green cloth with pretty floral decoration to the front board. It's in very good condition with just light wear to the corners and minor marking to the cloth. There is also rubbing to the spine edges.
Inside, there is a penned inscription to the front free endpaper. Some of the dates have written entries in both pen and pencil. Two entries have been scrubbed out, causing damage to the paper, and two other segments have a label stuck over the original page. There are several different hands. There is occasional minor marking and creasing, as well as superficial cracks to the gutter.
The pages feature floral illustrations and pretty borders, alongside Longfellow quotes and passages.
Dimensions approximately 11.7cm x 9cm x 1cm. The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
