This lovely antique edition of The Language of Flowers was published by George Routledge. The book is undated but I'd estimate it to be from circa 1900. The book is beautifully illustrated by Kate Greenaway.
The book is in good condition but is showing it's age. There's quite significant wear to the board edges and corners, with some peeling and loss to the surface of the paper and splitting to the board at the corners. The front board is clean and bright with minor marking and chipping. There is light soiling to the back board and some water damage to the spine which has leached some of the colour. Crushing to the spine ends has caused splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is a penned inscription to the front free endpaper and the pages show light age toning throughout. There is occasional foxing and handling marks, as well as the odd stain. The top corner of page 25 is creased where it's been folded inwards; there is a superficial crack to the gutter between 32 and 33 but the pages remain tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 15.3cm x 12.5cm x 1.1cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
