This beautiful antique edition of The More Excellent Way features a collection of Words of the Wise on The Life of Love: A Sequence of Meditations. It was published by Henry Frowde. The book is undated but after some research I'd estimate it to have been published circa 1900. So the book is likely from the end of the Victorian era.
The book is prettily bound in cream cloth with gold gilt floral detail of lilies and water lilies to the front board. It's in good condition but the cream cloth is noticeably tanned and marked, with some light soiling. The bottom corners are bumped and lightly worn. The spine is darkened. The ribbon page marker is torn, fraying and discoloured - it's very fragile!
Inside, the endpapers are tanned and the pages show some age toning and minor marking in places. The top of the title page has been cut away and there is a pencilled inscription on the Introduction page.
Dimensions approximately 16.5cm x 13.3cm x 2.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
