This pretty edition of The Lyrics and Ballads of Sir Walter Scott was published in 1894 by JM Dent and Sons. It features a full calf leather binding with gilt tooling to the spine and marbled text block edges. There is a school insignia blind stamped in gilt to the front board.
It's in very good condition with the main flaw being the sunning to the spine. There is some chipping to the surface of the leather at the spine ends and edges, and the boards are slightly bowed. There is some faint scuffing and scratching to the leather boards, and the top edge of the text block is a little dulled.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown and the endpapers are marbled. The pages show light age toning, with occasional marking and foxing. There is a crack to the gutter just after the FFEP.
Dimensions approximately 16.9cm x 11cm x 3.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
