This lovely edition of Farm Ballads by William Carleton was published by Harpers and Brothers Publishers in 1875. It's bound in green cloth over bevelled boards with beautiful gilt decoration to the front board.
It's in good condition but is definitely showing it's age. There is significant wear and rubbing to the board edges; the corners are worn through and crushed with the board showing through where the cloth has split. The boards are rubbed, with minor marking and scratching to the cloth. The spine is even more rubbed, with some loss to the surface colour of the cloth. There is also loss to the cloth at the spine ends.
Inside, there is significant age toning and occasional foxing. There is also some staining in places, both to the top of the pages and at the gutter. There are occasional cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tightly bound.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
