This stunning antique edition of The Little Flower Seekers by Rosa Mulholland was published by Marcus Ward and Co. The book is undated but after doing some research, I'd estimate it to be from circa 1870's. So the book is from the mid Victorian era.
This beautiful book is bound in brown orange cloth over bevelled boards, with pretty decoration in black and gilt to the front board and black lettering to the spine. It's in good condition, but is showing it's age. There is significant wear to the corners, with loss to the cloth which has revealed the board beneath. This can also be seen to the bottom edges of the boards. There is some minor marking and soiling to the boards and the spine is darkened. Crushing to the spine ends has caused loss and fraying to the cloth.
Inside, the front hinge has been part repaired with some tape and there is a bookseller's sticker to the bottom corner of the front pastedown. The pages show age toning throughout, with scattered foxing and minor marking. The book features stunning chromolithographs which really add to the charm of this antique book.
Dimensions approximately 21.3cm x 16.7cm x 1.8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
