This beautiful full Morocco edition of Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan was published by Henry Bohn in 1856. So the book is from the early Victorian era. It's bound in full Morocco leather with embossed detail to the boards; there are five raised bands and gilt tooling to the spine. The edges are all gilt with Gauffered decoration in a woven pattern - which is really striking.
It's in good condition but there is wear to the leather, particularly to the board and spine edges - this has caused some loss to the surface of the leather. There is darkening to the front board and light sunning to the spine. The leather shows some chips, scuffs and minor marks.
Inside, the pages show scattered foxing and age toning. There is a written inscription on one of the preliminary blank pages. There are stunning black and white plates throughout the book.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
