This lovely full leather book of The Farmer's Boy A Rural Poem was published in 1806. So the book is from the Georgian era. To put this in perspective, Jane Austen would have been just 31 years old at the time of this book's publication, and the Bronte sisters weren't even born yet.
The book is bound in full leather with pretty gilt decoration blind stamped to the boards and spine. The spine also features five raised bands and the text block edges are gold gilt.
It's in remarkably good condition considering the book is almost 220 years old. There is wear and crushing to the corners and some rubbing to the board edges with chipping to the surface of the leather. The boards have some scuffs, light marking and soiling, and the gold gilt is brighter on the back board than the front. There is wear to the spine ends and some chips to the raised bands.
Inside, the endpapers are marbled and there is a neatly written name and date on one of the preliminary blank pages. The pages are age toned, with foxing throughout, with occasional stains/marks.
Dimensions approximately 16.5cm x 10cm x 1.5cm.
All books purchased will arrive hand wrapped in biodegradable bubble wrap, patterned wallpaper and string.
