This stunning antique edition of The Young Fur Traders by R M Ballantyne was published by W.P Nimmo, Hay and Mitchell. The book itself is undated but there is a presentation plate dated 1904. So the book is likely to be from the Edwardian era.
The book is bound in red cloth with pictorial decoration and gilt to the front board and spine. It's an attractive binding, with colourful stylized peacocks to the front board. It's in very good condition, with light wear and bumping to the corners and foxing to the text block edges. The boards have minor marks and the spine is faded, with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown and tanning to the endpapers. The pages show light age toning and occasional foxing.
Dimensions approximately 20cm x 14cm x 3.8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
