This beautiful edition of Little Women by Louisa May Alcott was published by William Nicholson and Sons Ltd. The book isn't dated but there is a written inscription dated 1930 - I suspect the book is a little earlier though - circa 1910/1920.
The book is bound in red cloth with a pasted on black and white portrait illustration to the front board. It's in very good condition, with just some wear and minor chipping to the front illustration. There is wear and slight fraying to the cloth at the corners. The red cloth shows some minor soiling, as well as faint staining to the back board. The text block edges show age toning and foxing.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown and this has left a faint impression on the opposite page. The pages show tanning throughout, with sporadic marking and foxing in places.
Dimensions approximately 18.3cm x 13.5cm x 2.6cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
