This lovely vintage two volume edition of The Mysteries of Udolpho by Mrs Ann Radcliffe was published by J.M Dent and Sons Ltd in 1959 as part pf the Everman's Library Series. The books still have their original green dust jackets.
The DJs show some wear and tear to the edges and corners, with the worst tear being to volume two in the top left corner of the front cover. The spines are also sunned and discoloured. The DJs show some marking and foxing, and there is also light foxing to the text block edges. Underneath the dust jackets, the books are bound in green cloth with gilt lettering to the spines.
Inside, the DJs are unclipped and there are no inscriptions or names inside - just an old pencil price in the top corner of one front free endpaper. The pages are clean and bright with minimal toning.
Dimensions of each volume approximately 18.8cm x 12.5cm x 2.7cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
