This beautiful antique two volume edition of The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas was published by London & Glasgow, Collins Clear Type Press. The books themselves are undated but these editions were largely brought out in the 1910's to 1930's. So the books are approximately 100 years old.
They're in good condition but there is mottled discolouration to the boards with some loss to the colour of the cloth. The corners show wear and light bumping, and there is also wear to the board edges. There is some rubbing to the spines, whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused some splitting in the cloth.
Inside, the pages show age toning throughout, with occasional minor marking. The edges of the half title pages are a bit worn and rough. Volume one has three hand written names and addresses to the preliminary pages. There is some superficial damage to the front pastedown where it has been reglued. There is also a crack to one of the back pastedowns.
The books feature beautiful black and white illustration plates which make them an extra special read - despite their wear! It's hard to find Count of Monte Cristo in this binding so I'm pleased to offer these, despite the condition.
Each book size is approximately 15.5cm x 11cm x 2.8cm
The books will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
