This lovely edition of King Arthur and His Knights by Doris Ashley was Illustrated by AA DIxon and published by Raphael Tuck and Sons Ltd. The book itself isn't dated, but there is an inscription dated 1938.
The book is bound in burgundy cloth over bevelled boards, with a colour illustration pasted to the front board. It's in good condition but there is crushing and wear to the corners and some loss to the cloth colour at the top of the front board. The board edges show some shelf wear and there are some minor marks to the boards and spine. There is significant foxing to the text block edges.
Inside, there is a neatly written name and date on the front free endpaper and the pages show age toning and occasional foxing - the foxing is worst to the text block edges. The frontispiece is detached and one of the plates wasn't cut properly so the bottom corner sticks out from the edge of the text block.
Dimensions approximately 19.3cm x 13cm x 3.3cm.
The books will be posted hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
