This beautiful antique edition of Old Time Tales by Lewis Marsh was published by Henry Frowde. The book is undated but after some research, I'd estimate it to be from the 1920's.
The book is prettily bound in pictorial green cloth with gilt lettering to the spine. It's in very good condition but the corners show wear and bumping with slight fraying to the cloth of one corner. The boards show minor scuffs and marks and there is sunning to the spine. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth at the head of the spine. There is light foxing to the text block edges.
Inside, the front free endpaper has been removed so the book opens onto the reverse of the frontispiece. The little illustration on the verso has been coloured in and there is a bookseller's sticker in the bottom corner of the front pastedown. The pages show light age toning, with sporadic foxing and marking. There is a red stain to the bottom corner of one colour plate. A couple of the other black and white illustrations have been coloured in.
Dimensions approximately 19.5cm x 14.5cm x 2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
