This stunning antique edition of Little Women by Louisa May Alcott was published by W.P Nimmo, Hay and Mitchell. The book itself is undated but there is a written inscription inside dated 1897. So the book is from the latter part of the Victorian era.
The book is bound in brown cloth with pictorial decoration to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition but the corners do show some wear and crushing. The boards show light marking and there is light shelf wear to the board edges. The spine is darkened and crushing to the spine ends has caused very minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is a written inscription on the verso of the FFEP and the preliminary pages show significant foxing. The pages show light age toning throughout, with sporadic foxing. There are occasional cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tightly bound. There is one black and white frontispiece.
Dimensions approximately 19.5cm x 14cm x 3.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
