This beautiful antique pocket book of the Faust by Goethe was published by Walter Scott Publishing Company. The book itself is undated but I estimate it to have been published circa 1900.
The book is bound in quarter vellum with gilt decoration to the spine and brown cloth boards. The book is in remarkably good condition for it's age with just some minor wear and crushing to the corners. The boards are lightly marked and there is slight darkening to the vellum spine - there are some tiny chips to the leather title label.
Inside, there are no inscriptions or dedications - there is just 727 Bank written in pencil to the front free endpaper. The pages show only light age toning and occasional foxing. Some of the page edges appear to have been separated by hand which has left a few of them quite jagged.
Book dimensions approximately 14.3cm x 10.7cm x 2.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
