This beautiful set of two volumes includes The Return of the Native and Life's Little Ironies by Thomas Hardy. They were published in the early 1920's by Macmillan. They are uniformly bound in half calf leather, with leather title labels to the spines and marbled text block edges. The marbling is beautiful and bright - in blue, yellow and green.
The books are in very good condition, with the main flaw being the fading and discolouration to the spines. There is also some wear, scuffing and chipping to the leather spines. The boards are clean and bright with only light marking, and the corners show minor wear. The top edge of the text block is slightly dulled.
Inside, there are no inscriptions or writings of any kind. The pages show occasional foxing but are remarkably clean and bright. The endpapers are marbled.
Dimensions of each volume is 19cm x 13cm.
The books will arrive securely wrapped in bubble wrap, patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
