This lovely edition of A Prisoner in Fairyland by Algernon Blackwood was published by Macmillan and Co in 1922. The book is bound in green cloth with gilt lettering to the front board and spine, and black detailing to the front board.
The story shows the transition of protagonist, Henry Rogers, as he moves away from the world of rigid business responsibilities into a more childlike world filled with the whimsical and nostalgic splendor of childhood imagination.
It's in good condition but there is some chipping and loss to the surface colour of the cloth. The boards show shelf wear and the corners are also worn and bumped. The back board has some marking and there is crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is water staining to the top of the preliminary pages and a written inscription on the front free endpaper. The pages show light age toning and very occasional foxing but are otherwise clean and bright. There is slight cracking to the gutter at the title page. Dimensions approximately 20.3cm x 14cm x 3.7cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
