This beautiful edition of Mother Goose was published by George Harrap and Co Ltd in 1932. The book is bound in orange brown cloth with pictorial decoration to the front board and spine. It's a lovely edition and I particularly love the witch on her broomstick flying across the spine.
It's in good condition for it's age but the cloth is noticeably soiled and marked, with some light rubbing to the decoration on the front board. The corners are worn and bumped, with splitting and light fraying to the cloth. The spine is faintly darkened and marked, and crushing to the spine ends has caused small splits in the cloth.
Inside, the endpapers are tanned and the dye from the text block edges has leached into the edges of the endpapers. There is a written inscription on the reverse of the frontispiece and the pages show age toning and sporadic foxing and marking. There is sadly a tear to the top corner of Page 15 and some of the pages have been dog eared (the top corner folded down which leaves a crease behind). There are cracks to the gutter in places but the pages feel tightly bound. A few pages look like they've been separated by hand which has caused the page edges to tear - they look quite jagged.
The book features beautiful black and white line drawings as well as colour plates which make this an extra special read.
Dimensions approximately 23.5cm x 17.5cm x 5cm.
The book will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
