This stunning antique edition of Peter Simple by Captain Marryat was published by JM Dent in 1929. The book is bound in half calf leather with red pink cloth boards. The spine features five raised bands and ornate gilt tooling and the text block edges are marbled.
The book is in very good condition with the most noticeable flaw being the two dents to the edge of the back board. There is some minor scuffing and chipping to the leather in places, and the top edge of the text block is slightly dulled.
Inside, the endpapers are marbled to match the edge of the text block. There is a name written in pencil to one of the preliminary blank pages. The pages are clean and bright with only occasional foxing.
Dimensions approximately 19.3cm x 13.5cm x 3.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is either oxo-degradable (pale green in colour) or upcycled from deliveries I've had (this is clear and fully recyclable). The jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
