This lovely and scarce edition of Our Sentimental Garden by Agnes and Egerton Castle was published in 1914 by William Heinemann Ltd. It's bound in green cloth with gilt decoration and lettering to the front board.
It's in good condition for it's age, but there is some light wear to the corners and rubbing and light bumping to the board edges. The boards show minor marks with some rubbing to the cloth. The decoration on the spine is dulled and rubbed, and not easily seen. There is rubbing to the spine edges and sunning to the cloth. Crushing to the spine ends has caused some splitting in the cloth at the head of the spine.
Inside, the endpapers are beautifully illustrated but there is very slight cracking to the hinges. The pages shows age toning and foxing, and there is tanning to the tissue guards. There is a small tear to the bottom edge of the frontispiece and there is cracking to the gutter in places - despite this, the pages remain tightly bound. The edges of Pages 237 and 239 are jagged as if they've been separated by hand.
There is an inscription inside possibly by the authors.
The book has beautiful illustrations by Charles Robinson which make it an extra special read. He's probably most famous illustrating Frances Hodgson Burnett's The Secret Garden.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
