This beautiful edition of The Violet Fairy Book by Andrew Lang was published by Longmans, Green and Co in 1919.
The book is bound in violet blue cloth with blind stamped detail to the front board and dulled gilt to the spine. It's in good condition but is more of a reading copy rather than a book to gift. There is marking and staining to the boards (the back board is particularly stained) and the corners are lightly worn and crushed. There is some minor bumping to the board edges and the spine is very faded, with dulling to the gilt. The spine ends are crushed which has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is a neatly written name on the front free endpaper and the pages show light age toning throughout. The half title page is tanned, with a faint transferred impression of the written name from the FFEP. The pages show only occasional minor marking.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
