This scarce edition of A Rose of a Hundred Leaves by Amelia E Barr was published by James Clarke in 1893. So the book is from the latter part of the Victorian era.
The book is bound in pale olive green cloth with stunning gilt and floral decoration to the front board and more gilt to the spine. It's in very good condition, with the most noticeable flaw being the sunning to the spine and the rubbing/dulling to the gilt on the spine. There is crushing to the spine ends and minor marking to the boards. There is bumping to the board edges and wear to the corners.
Inside, the pages show light age toning and occasional foxing. The top corners of pages 39 and 41 have been folded over which has left creasing behind. The book features pretty black and white illustrations.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
