This beautiful, antique edition of Jo's Boys by Louisa May Alcott was published by Sampson Low, Marston and Co in 1907. So the book is from the Edwardian era.
The book is bound in green cloth with stunning pictorial decoration to the front board and gilt to the spine. The decoration has quite an art nouveau feel to it. The book is in good condition for it's age but there is wear to the corners, and the board edges are lightly rubbed and bumped. The boards have some minor marks and scuffs, and there is a little loss to the front decoration. The spine edges are rubbed and a dent to the spine has caused a small split in the cloth. There is crushing to the spine ends which has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is a loose type written piece of paper tucked in loose and a rubbed out price to the front free endpaper. The pages show age toning and foxing, with sporadic marking. There is a small chip to the edge of Page 11. There are cracks to the gutter in places throughout the book.
The book features stunning black and white illustration plates which make this an even more lovely book.
Dimensions approximately 22cm x 16cm x 5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
