This striking edition of The Satires of Andrew Marvell was published in 1901 by Charles Scribner's Sons for the Muses' Library in 1901. The book is bound in blue cloth with ornate gilt decoration to the front board and spine.
It's in very good condition for it's age, with the main flaw being the sunning and discolouration to the spine. The gilt on the spine is also dulled and there is crushing to the spine ends. The boards are clean and bright and there is only light rubbing to the corners.
Inside, there are no inscriptions but the endpapers are noticeably foxed. The rest of the pages show lighter age toning, with occasional foxing to the page edges. The page edges are rough cut which is a wonderful feature in old book.
Book Dimensions approximately 16.8cm x 10.5cm x 2.8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
