This stunning edition of Down the Snow Stairs by Alice Corkran features a wonderful cloth binding with pictorial decoration and gilt detail of a young lady walking down snowy steps on the front board. It's a really attractive binding that was published by Blackie and Son. The book isn't dated but after some research, I'd estimate it to be from the late Victorian era.
The book is in very good condition for it's age, with just light wear to the corners and a small crease to the back board. There is a small bump to the bottom edge of the front board and crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is an Ex Libris plate glued to the front pastedown and tanning to the endpapers. The pages show light age toning and sporadic foxing throughout. There are some superficial cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 19.3cm x 14cm x 2.7cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
