This stunning antique edition of The Stickit Minister and Some Common Men by S R Crockett was published by Fisher Unwin in 1895. So the book is from the late Victorian era but the binding is more contemporary - the book is bound in half calf leather with blue cloth boards. The spine features three raised bands and gilt tooling and the text block edges are marbled. Someone obviously decided to get the book rebound for their personal library.
The book is in very good condition with just minor marks to the boards and a chip to the surface of the leather at one corner. The leather has some scuffs and the spine is faintly faded, with wear and minor chipping to the surface of the leather near the tail of the spine. The top edge of the text block is dulled.
Inside, the endpapers are marbled to match the edges of the text block. The pages are clean and bright with only light age toning and occasional foxing.
Dimensions approximately 20cm x 13cm x 3.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is either oxo-degradable (pale green in colour) or upcycled from deliveries I've had (this is clear and fully recyclable). The jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
