This beautiful vintage edition of The Charm and Other Drawing Room Plays by Walter Besant and Walter Pollock was published by Chatto and Windus in 1896. So the book is from the late Victorian era.
The book is bound in teal cloth with intricate gilt detail to the front board and spine. It's in good condition for it's age but there is some marking to the bottom edges of the boards, and a small chip in the cloth at the bottom edge of the front board. The corners show light wear and there is a dent to the edge of the back board. There is minor marking to the back board and a little rubbing/dulling to the gilt on the spine. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth, and there is a tiny hole to the external back joint.
Inside the pages are clean and bright, with just some age toning and sporadic foxing/marking. There are no inscriptions or dedications but the front hinge is slightly cracked. There is also cracking to the gutter in places through the book, but the pages remain tightly bound.
The book is filled with stunning black and white illustrations throughout.
