The book is bound in original publisher's blue cloth, with pictorial decoration and gilt lettering to the front board and spine. Externally it's in very good condition, with just light wear to the corners and minor marks, scuffs and wear to the boards. The spine is sunned and crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth. The board edges show some shelf wear.
Inside, the front free endpaper is missing so the book opens onto the half title page. The pages show light age toning and occasional foxing/marking. There is staining to the back of Page 153. Some of the page edges are a little jagged - they may have been uncut and a previous reader separated them by hand. There are some superficial cracks to the gutter in places but the only loose page is the back free endpaper.
The book is illustrated by Willy Pogany with many black and white vignettes and plates. This enchanting children's book was written by George Edward Farrow, best known for his nonsense books for children. In this story, some children meet a talking dodo dressed in peculiar clothes. The Dodo then takes the children on an exciting adventure by the Dodo, meeting a whole host of unusual characters on the way.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is either oxo-degradable (pale green in colour) or upcycled from deliveries I've had (this is clear and fully recyclable). The jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
