This exquisite edition of The Hillier Book of Garden Planting was published by David and Charles in 1988. A previous owner has had a custom binding made for it and they didn't stint on quality! It's finely bound in full green leather, with ornate gold gilt decoration to the boards and spine. The spine also features two raised bands and the book has it's own slipcase.
It's in very good condition but sadly there is fading and discolouration to the spine. The slipcase also shows some fading and discolouration, with minor scuffs to the card.
Inside, there are marbled endpapers (part of the custom binding) and the pages are clean and bright. The top edges of the pages stick to each other a little, which is due to the added gold gilt. There is also some rippling to the preliminary pages.
Dimensions (including slipcase) approximately 25cm x 19.5cm x 4.3cm.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
