This beautiful antique edition of Soldiers Stories and Sailors Yarns was published by John Hogg. The book itself is undated but there is a name written inside dated 1901. So the book is late Victorian.

The book is bound in brown cloth with stunning floral decoration blind stamped to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition, with just a slight forward lean to the book. There are some minor marks to the back board and light foxing to the text block edges. The spine ends are crushed.

Inside, there is a name and date written on the front free endpaper, alongside a bookseller's stamp. The pages are clean and bright with only some occasional foxing. One page segment has been glued back in but shows a little wear and tear to the edges. The book features black and white plates by three different illustrators, including Harry Furniss.

Dimensions approximately 19.7cm x 14cm x 3.3cm.

The book will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.

I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
