This pretty edition of The Boy's Own Natural History was published by George Routledge and Sons. The book itself isn't dated but there is a presentation plate inside dated 1894. So the book is late Victorian.
The book is bound in brown cloth with beautiful pictorial decoration to the front board and spine. It's in good condition but there is light crushing to the corners and wear to the board edges. There is some water damage to the top corner of the back board and other minor marks to the boards. There is rubbing to the pictorial decoration on the front board and rubbing to the spine edges. The spine is faintly sunned, with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown and cracking to the hinges. There is light age toning and scattered marking to the pages throughout. The water damage to the back board can be seen to the back endpaper. The book is prolifically illustrated with black and white illustrations.
Dimensions approximately 18.8cm x 13cm x 3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
