This beautiful edition of Homes of Old English Writers by Rev S W Christophers was published by Haughton. The book is undated but I'd estimate it to be from the late Victorian era (circa 1890-1900).
The book is bound in full leather with a blind stamped school insignia in gold gilt to the front board. The spine features delicate gold gilt work and five raised bands. The text block edges are marbled.
The book is in good condition for it's age but sadly the boards have noticeable marking, scuffing and wear to the surface. The corners are worn and lightly crushed. The spine is faintly darkened, with minor wear and loss to the surface of the leather.
Inside, the endpapers are marbled to match the edge of the text block. The pages show minor age toning and foxing in places but the text remains clear and bright. There is some slight surface damage to the reverse of the frontispiece where it had stuck to the adjacent page.
Dimensions approximately 18.5cm x 12.5cm x 2cm.
Every book purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
