This beautiful antique edition of Fresh-water Aquaria Their Construction, Arrangement and Management was published by L Upcott Gill. The book is undated but after some research, I've been able to roughly date it to around 1900-1905. So the book is either late Victorian or Edwardian.
The book is bound in green cloth with pretty blind stamped decoration and gold gilt to the front board and spine. It's in good condition for it's age with the most noticeable flaw being some chips to the cloth near the top of the front board. The corners are worn, with minor splitting and fraying to the top corners. The boards show some light marking and rubbing, and the spine is very faintly sunned. There is rubbing to the spine edges and crushing to the spine ends which has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is an ex libris plate glued to the front pastedown and the pages show light age toning and occasional foxing/marking. There are no written inscriptions. There are cracks to the gutter in places but the pages remain tightly bound.
The book is profusely illustrated with black and white illustrations.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
