This stunning edition of Birds and Their Ways was part of The Rambler Nature Books series. It features a wonderful cloth binding with a pasted on illustration to the front and floral decoration to the front board and spine. The roses are very much in the Glasgow School of Art style which Blackie became famous for. The book was published by Blackie and Son in 1914.
The book is in very good condition for it's age, but there is light wear and crushing to the corners. The book has a slight forward lean to it. There is faint discolouration to the edges of the boards and sunning to the spine. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting to the cloth and there is a little foxing to the text block edges.
Inside, the endpapers are tanned and there is a written inscription on the verso of the FFEP. There are also some ink marks to the verso of the frontispiece. The pages show light age toning but are otherwise clean and bright. There are occasional cracks to the gutter in places, the pages remain tightly bound. Please note that some of the black and white illustrations have been coloured in.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
