This stunning First Edition of Old Manor Houses by Cecil Aldin was published by William Heinemann, London in 1923. It's bound in original publisher's cloth with gilt decoration to the front board and spine.
The book is in very good condition with just light wear to the corners and minor marks to the boards. The spine is lightly sunned and crushing to the spine ends has caused splitting in the cloth.
Inside, the endpapers are beautifully illustrated and there is a neatly written name on the verso of the FFEP. The pages show light age toning and occasional foxing. There is a slight crack to the gutter at the title page but the pages remain tightly bound.
The striking illustrations in this book are what really makes it stand out. Each plate has a captioned tissue guard.
Dimensions approximately 25.7cm x 19.5cm x 2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
