This beautiful antique book of The Isle of Wight by C J Cornish was published by Seeley and Co in 1909. So the book is from the latter part of the Edwardian era.
The book is bound in soft red leather with gold gilt detailing to the front cover and spine. It's in fair condition but sadly there is loss to the leather at the tail of the spine. There is more minor loss to the head of the spine, as well as rubbing to the spine edges and fading to the spine. The corners have some wear and there is scuffing to the leather boards. The text block edges show significant foxing.
Inside, there is a name and date written on the half title page and the endpapers are marbled. There are two small tears to the edge of the half title page. The pages show light toning and foxing but are otherwise in good, antique condition.
The book features beautiful black and white illustration plates which make it an extra special read.
This small pocket book is only approximately 15cm x 11cm x 2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
