This beautiful antique edition of Scottish Gardens by The Right Hon Sir Herbert Maxwell was published by Edward Arnold in 1908. So the book is from the Edwardian era. It's a limited edition, numbered 57 of 250.
The book is bound in beige cloth with gilt floral decoration and lettering to the front board and spine. The top edge is gilt. It's in good condition but there is some toning and discolouration to the cloth, particularly to the spine. The corners are worn and crushed, with light bumping to the board edges. The gilt on the spine is almost rubbed away and crushing to the spines has caused some splitting and minor loss to the cloth.
Inside, there are no inscriptions and the pages just show age toning and sporadic foxing. There are occasional cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tightly bound.
The book is filled with stunning tipped in colour plates by Mary Wilson which make this an extra special read. Plates are collated and complete.
