This beautiful edition of Half Hours in the Far North was published by Wm Isbister Ltd in 1883. It's bound in full burgundy calf leather with a school insignia blind stamped to the front in gilt. The text block edges are marbled and the spine features five raised bands and gilt tooling.
It's in very good condition with light marking, scuffing and discolouration to the boards. The top corners show wear, with one corner very slightly split to reveal the board beneath. The spine is darkened with minor loss to the leather at the head of the spine. A very slight split is starting to the bottom of the front joint.
Inside, the pages are clean and bright with sporadic foxing. There is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown and a penned name and address to one of the preliminary blank pages. The book has marbled endpapers and black and white illustrations.
Dimensions approximately 17.9cm x 12.7cm x 2.8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
