This wonderful 1851 edition of The Young Man's Guide by William Alcott was published by T R Marvin. It's in original publisher's cloth with gilt decoration to the spine. In the nineteenth century, William Alcott's The Young Man's Guide was aimed at young men who wanted to achieve personal and financial success. It was designed to provide guidance and strengthen character, and it put an emphasis on high ideals and morality.
It's in near fine condition, with just crushing to the spine ends which has caused some minor loss to the cloth. The text block edges have some minor marks and scuffs.
Inside, there is a written inscription on the front free endpaper and a name and number on the front pastedown opposite. There is minor loss to the top corner of the FFEP and the following page. The pages show light age toning and occasional foxing and marking, but are otherwise clean and bright. The paper is a little rippled.
