This stunning edition of The Poetical Works of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was published by WP Nimmo, Hay and Mitchell. The book itself is undated but these bindings usually date from around 1905-1910. So the book is likely Edwardian. It is bound in quarter vellum over green cloth boards, with stunning floral decoration in gilt and green to the spine. Top edge gilt.
It's in very good condition with light air bubbling to the edge of the green cloth. The vellum shows light marking and spotting; the text block edges show foxing.
Inside, the free endpapers have foxing and tanning but the rest of the pages are clean and bright with only occasional foxing.
Book measures approximately 19.3cm x 13.2cm x 3.3cm.
The books will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
