This stunning little edition of The Ballroom Companion was published by George Routledge and Sons. The book is undated but after some research, I'd estimate it to be from the early to mid Victorian era (circa 1868/1870). At the time of listing I can find no other editions of this book online.
It's a tiny little book bound in cloth with flexible covers. There is blind stamped decoration in black and gilt to the front cover. It's in good condition but there is wear and minor fraying to the corners. The board edges are lightly bumped and there is some marking to the back board. The decoration on the front board is rubbed, with some loss to the gilt. The spine is creased and faintly sunned, with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is very slight cracking to the hinges and to the gutter in places throughout the book. One page segment feels a little loose. The pages show age toning and sporadic foxing/marking, and some of the top corners are a little bumped.
Dimensions Approximately 9.3cm x 7cm x 1cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
