This stunning and rare edition of Once Upon a Time was published by Dean and Sons. I've found it very difficult to date as I can't find any other editions online! I'd estimate it to be from circa 1900. The book is bound in grey cloth over bevelled boards with beautiful pictorial decoration and gilt to the front board and spine. All edges are gilt.
It's in good condition, but there is light wear to the corners and a split to the top of the back hinge. There is faint discolouration and marking to the boards and bumping to the board edges. The spine is sunned and discoloured, whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, the endpapers are beautifully floral and the pages show age toning throughout. There are also some cracks to the gutter in places but the pages remain bound. There are numerous illustrations by different artists.
Dimensions approximately 20cm x 14cm x 4.7cm.
The book will be hand wrapped in patterned paper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
